On Friday, Shannon Brown was traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Washington Wizards. However, he was waived on Monday in order for the Wizards to get down to the league maximum of 15 players – Washington only made the deal in order to receive Marcin Gortat.
As word got out that Brown would be waived by the Wizards, there was talk of the two-time NBA champion returning to the Los Angeles Lakers.
While it’s unknown what Shannon will choose to do at this time – he first has to clear waivers before he can officially sign with a new team – many Laker fans are already hoping that the team’s management will decide to sign the guard.
According to a poll by Lakerholicz.com, 82% of this website’s readers would like the purple and gold to sign Brown.
The problem is, the Lakers’ roster is already at 15 players, so someone would have to be waived in order to free up a roster spot for Shannon.
The Lakers’ four players with non-guaranteed contracts – Elias Harris, Ryan Kelly, Xavier Henry and Shawne Williams – have made the opening night roster, however, their deals aren’t fully guaranteed until January.
