When Kobe Bryant first joined Twitter last month, a lot of people were worried about the hate he’d receive in his mentions.
He recently talked about this when he was a guest on Max and Marcellus:
It’s all fun. It’s pretty cool to have that global reach without a filter. It’s fun. I enjoy fans on Twitter who trash talk and they talk about, whether it’s the Celtics or the Heat, who’s the best and this that and the other. A lot of people were really worried about me being on Twitter because of criticism and how many quote unquote “haters” there are and this that and the other. It’s fun. I enjoy the trash talk.
Kobe also explained what made him finally join up to Twitter:
I woke up one day and came up with an idea of taking over Nike’s Twitter handle. I said, “This would be a fun thing to do, we’ve got a new shoe coming out. Give me the keys and let me drive the car,” and I enjoyed it. One day I just woke up and just said, “You know what? I’ma do it.”
Bryant joined Twitter on January 4th and already is closing in on 1,200,000 followers.
