After Byron Scott was fired on Sunday night, the Lakers didn’t hang around.
On Wednesday, the Lakers were given permission by the Golden State Warriors to interview Luke Walton.
The Lakers didn’t waste any time, and interviewed Luke later in the week, possibly on Friday, as ESPN L.A. 710’s John Ireland reported that the meeting “went well.”
It went well enough for Luke to agree to a deal, according to Kevin Ding from Bleacher Report.
Yes, that’s right, Walton will be the next head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Shortly after Ding’s tweet, the Lakers confirmed the report.
“We’re excited to bring Luke back to Los Angeles, where we feel he’s going to start an outstanding coaching career,” Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said in a statement. “He’s one of the brightest young coaching minds in the game and we feel fortunate that he’ll be leading the on-court future of our team.”
