If Jordan Hill walks for say $4-5 million, signing Antawn Jamison and/or Jermaine O’Neal would be a cheap replacement and insurance for Pau and Bynum.

Hill wouldn’t get court time if we sign Jamison and he plays well. Jamison would likely play the Odom role – first guy off the bench and playing the 4 while Bynum and Pau are in at the 5. Hill wouldn’t get any minutes, so paying him $4-5 million is stupid. And he also wouldn’t get court time (#FreeJHIll).

You need a back-up for Jamison though incase he plays bad or gets hurt – so O’Neal could do that…you’d also still have McRoberts unless he’s traded away. I’m not too worried about a back-up center in case Bynum gets hurt though, as Pau can play that role.

Let’s not get carried away with ourselves about this Jermaine O’Neal workout tomorrow, though; many workouts have gone on in the past (Arenas, “Tractor” Traylor) and nothing comes from them. The Lakers are probably just exploring their options and seeing what’s out there.
