Jim Buss on the addition of Chris Kaman, Nick Young and Jordan Farmar

During the Las Vegas Summer League, Jim Buss shared some of his thoughts on the new additions of Chris Kaman, Nick Young and Jordan Farmar.

For starters, Buss is looking forward to pairing Kaman with Pau Gasol in the front court:

[pullquote]I’ve always liked Chris. I think he needs us just as much as we need him. I think this is going to give him a great opportunity to play with another seven-footer. He’s got the sweet (shooting) touch. I’m looking forward to it.

This is the first year we’ve had D’Antoni, we’ve had the time to start picking players that fit his system a little bit better and I think Kaman’s a perfect fit.[/pullquote]

Buss says he likes the addition of L.A. native Young, not only due to his USC Trojan ties, but also because he thinks he’ll fit in great with Mike D’Antoni’s system:

[pullquote]Nick Young, he’s had some big games against us. I’ve always liked the kid – he’s a Trojan, so that’s automatic. He can shoots the lights out and we need shooters, especially in this system. He’s very athletic, can sprint the floor – another one that fits D’Antoni’s system perfectly.[/pullquote]

As for the return of Farmar, Buss sees Jordan as another player who will fit in perfectly with D’Antoni’s system. He also notes that Farmar turned down more money in Turkey to return to the Lakers, which is a great compliment to the franchise:

[pullquote]I’m excited. He took a lot less money – he was making some very good money in Turkey – he just missed being a Laker, you know, which is kinda the story of a lot of people who wanna be Lakers and we’re happy to accommodate them. But, again, fitting D’Antoni’s up-and-down style, I think Jordan Farmar’s gonna fit real well with this system.[/pullquote]

The Lakers’ new additions will definitely be interesting to watch next season. They have a lot of potential and all have something to prove, which should make for an enjoyable season.
