In light of his most recent milestone and the fact that the Lakers are up next for the OKC Thunder, Kevin Durant was asked to shed light on what it’s like to play with Kobe Bryant.
“I didn’t really get to see a lot of Jordan in his prime, but seeing Kobe… I know he’s an old fart. Since I was 8 years old, I’ve watched him dominate. Every year he’s been in the league, he’s been a joy to watch and it was just an honor and a blessing to play on his team this summer in the Olympics. To get 30,000 points, man… it’s just an unbelievable accomplishment. It’s good to say you played in a game with a great player, probably the best player in my era that I’ve ever seen. It’s great to have somebody to kind of aim to and look up to and just compete against on a high level. I’m looking forward to playing against him (Friday). It’s going to be fun”
Add this quote to the long list of quotes from current and former players who appreciate the greatness of Kobe Bryant. No matter how people may feel about him, we have heard players say things like this time and time again. Former players or current players that Kobe Bryant has competed against continuously speak very highly of him and it’s something that should not go unnoticed. If fans of other teams aren’t going to respect Kobe the way that Lakerholicz feel that they should, at least Kobe is their favorite player’s favorite player.
Tonight is going to be a fun one. The Lakers have a chance to get some payback after being eliminated by Durant and the Thunder in last year’s playoffs. It’ll be interesting to see if Kobe Bryant looks like an ‘old fart’ or the current league’s leading scorer.
