Lakers News: Kobe Bryant says basketball isn’t his favorite sport

This is actually pretty crazy.

Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest basketball players to ever step onto the court, yet he claims that the game invented by James Naismith isn’t even his number one sport.

The official FIFA website caught up with Bryant in Brazil before yesterday’s World Cup fixture between Germany and Portugal, and the five-time NBA champion revealed to the site that soccer was actually his favorite sport.

“I am actually [a huge soccer fan]. I grew up in Italy. From the age from six to 14 I played soccer every day,” Bryant said. “It is actually my favourite sport.”

We all know how much Bryant loves basketball – the amount of blood, sweat and tears he’s put in to have success in the sport proves this – yet soccer was his first love and will seemingly always have the edge.
