Lakers Receive Permission From Warriors To Interview Luke Walton

The Golden State Warriors have given the Lakers permission to interview their assistant coach Luke Walton

The wheels are being put in motion.

According to a tweet by ESPN’s Marc Spears, the Lakers have been granted permission by the Golden State Warriors to interview their assistant coach Luke Walton.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak called and asked for permission, which has been given. The Lakers will be able to contact Walton after the Warriors’ first-round series against the Houston Rockets comes to an end.

At the time of writing, the Warriors lead the series 3-1.

The Lakers have also received permission from the San Antonio Spurs to interview their lead assistant coach Ettore Messina, though ESPN’s Marc Stein says that Walton is L.A.’s number one candidate.
