UPDATE: According to Dave McMenamin from ESPN Los Angeles, the Lakers presented two offers to Gasol before today: two years, $23 million and three years, $29 million. The Spaniard reportedly rejected both offers.
It looks like Pau Gasol is finally leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo Sports, Gasol declined a deal with the Lakers that would have paid him $10 million per season for the next two years.
It appears the Lakers acted quickly after Gasol turned them down as they reached an agreement on a two-year, $18 million deal with Jordan Hill. The second year will be a team option, according to Mike Bresnahan from the L.A. Times.
The Chicago Bulls and San Antonio Spurs are now the front-runners to land the Spaniard, according to Ramona Shelburne from ESPN Los Angeles.
Friday was a busy day for the Lakers.
They got the day started by trading for Jeremy Lin and a first-round pick, and followed it up by re-signing Nick Young and Hill.
And, with a number of roster spots left to fill, the team certainly aren’t done just yet.
