Could new Lakers head coach Luke Walton lure some of his former players to the purple and gold this summer?
According to Sean Deveney from Sporting News, the Lakers “will have interest in Ezeli, seeing his size and rim-protecting defense as an ideal complement to forward Julius Randle.”
Deveney was reportedly informed by several NBA executives that Ezeli will receive contract offers of three years and $50 million when he hits the open market in July.
The Nigeria native will be a restricted free agent meaning the Golden State Warriors will be able to match any offer given to him by a rival team, though there’s likely a limit to how high the Warriors are willing to go.
Ezeli, 27, averaged 15.0 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per 36 minutes this season, according to the report.
This isn’t the first Warriors player who has been linked to the Lakers thanks to the addition of Walton.
According to a previous report, the Lakers will go after forward Harrison Barnes this summer if they miss out on Kevin Durant. Barnes will also be a restricted free agent in July.
