Just like Ramona Shelburne from ESPN Los Angeles revealed a few days ago, the Los Angeles Lakers are working the phones and are looking to make a trade.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo Sports, the Lakers are one of the teams interested in trading for Brook Lopez from the Brooklyn Nets.
However, Wojnarowski also notes that the purple and gold “likely” lack the assets to acquire Lopez, and therefore the talks “haven’t gained traction” as of yet.
If the Nets are looking for cap relief, the Lakers can certainly be of service seeing as they have a number of expiring contracts on the roster.
Lopez has a player option for next season worth nearly $17 million.
The 26-year-old Lopez is averaging 14.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 26.3 minutes per game this season.
The Oklahoma City Thunder currently appear to be in the lead to acquire the California native’s services, per Wojnarowski.
