Lakers waive Dairus Johnson-Odom; roster now stands at 16 players

The Los Angeles Lakers have waived guard Darius Johnson-Odom, it was announced today by the team.

Johnson-Odom was selected by the Lakers in the 2012 NBA draft and was cut last season, yet the purple and gold signed the athletic guard to their training camp roster.

It is somewhat strange timing for the Lakers to make the move seeing as they are still in China and will play a game in Shanghai on Friday before heading home.

Johnson-Odom struggled to find playing time on a team laden with guards, and the emergence of Xavier Henry all but sealed DJO’s fate.

The team’s roster now stands at 16 players and must be trimmed to 15 by opening night.
