LISTEN: Kendrick Lamar name-drops Phil Jackson in new freestyle

kendrick-lamar

Kendrick Lamar‘s new freestyle just dropped and is currently taking the internet by storm.

Kendrick, an L.A. native, is joined by Big Sean and Jay Electronica on the freestyle track, but Lamar blew both of them out of the water.

Although Kendrick’s entire verse is genius, one line caught my attention when the West Coast rapper name-dropped a guy who’s very well known to Laker fans: Phil Jackson.

[pullquote]If Phil Jackson came back, still no coaching me. I’m uncoachable, I’m unsociable, f*** your clubs.[/pullquote]

Pretty clever line by Lamar, seeing as Jackson has a reputation for coaching the uncoachable: he tamed the likes of Dennis Rodman and Ron Artest and he even became close with Kobe Bryant, a player he once described as “uncoachable” in his 2004 book, The Last Season.
