Most Laker fans can’t wait to see Nick Young finally play in a purple and gold uniform. Neither can Nick Young.
Swaggy P recently told Mark Medina that he’s been playing with the Lakers on NBA 2K13. It appears he’s tweaked the rosters so he’s playing for L.A. (maybe he traded Dwight Howard to Philadelphia?) and he’s apparently filling it up on a nightly basis, and he does so while sharing the ball with Kobe Bryant:
For Young, that’s entailed playing in the Drew League, the Los Angeles-based Pro-Am league that features plenty of home-grown NBA talent. To pick up inspiration, Young has frequently played NBA2K13 as the Lakers to receive a sneak peak on how the dynamic turns out.
“I’m scoring pretty much 30 to 40 points,” Young said. “I share the ball with Kobe, though. It should be fun. It’ll be all right.”
The 2K franchise is the most realistic basketball game out there, though I’m not sure that Nick will be scoring that many points in the real world. However, 30-to-40 point games could become a reality a few times during the season; when Young catches fire he can shoot with the best of them.
Young’s career high of 43 points came against the Sacramento Kings in 2011; Young went 14-for-22 that night, while shooting 7-for-10 from downtown. The L.A. native will have plenty of opportunities to shoot next season – Mike D’Antoni’s system is seemingly tailor-made for Young’s game – so big scoring nights from Swaggy P are definitely a possibility.
