Nick Young says he grew up a Kobe fan, now looks forward to go to “war” against Bryant in practice

Nick Young grew up as fan of the Lakers and Kobe Bryant. Now, a decade or so later, Swaggy P will finally suit up for his home town team and will match up with one of his favorite players every day in practice.

Young is looking forward to the challenge, according to the Los Angeles Times:

[pullquote]”I grew up a Laker fan,” said Young.  “Kobe [Bryant], Shaq [O’Neal], Nick Van Exel, Eddie Jones — now I’m playing in that purple and gold.”

He looks forward to playing with Bryant — “It’s going to be war sometimes in practice.”[/pullquote]

Facing Bryant every day in practice could push Young to new heights, both offensively and defensively. Former Lakers such as Shannon Brown and Trevor Ariza improved immensely while with the purple and gold, and a lot of that improvement is down to Bryant’s tutelage.
