Nick Young has signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to reports.
While the Lakers could ideally do with defensive players at this point, Nick Young is a great signing for the minimum. Young is still…well…young, and would be a great spark off the bench, or could even step in as a starter to space the floor for Pau Gasol and Chris Kaman.
For Young, joining the Lakers is a lifelong dream, according to his agent Mark Bartelstein:
Young averaged 10.6 points per game while shooting 35% from three last season with the Sixers, though he averaged 17.4 points per game with the Wizards in 2010-11.
At 6’7″, Young is capable of playing at the shooting guard and small forward position. Seeing as the Lakers are already loaded with guards, Young will likely play as a small forward in D’Antoni’s offense.
Young is a native of Los Angeles and went to the University of Southern California. Welcome home, Nick!
