OFFICIAL: Lakers acquire Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, 2018 first-round pick for Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr.

The Los Angles Lakers pulled the trigger at the trade deadline today as the moved Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. for Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t stand pat at the trade deadline. In fact, they did quite the opposite.

As the deadline was looming, the Lakers pulled the trigger on a deal that will bring Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye and a 2018 first-round draft pick to Los Angeles. Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. were sent in return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The draft pick is the Cavaliers’ own and is top-three protected.

The trade is an interesting one for the Lakers.

Not only did the purple and gold manage to bring in Thomas and Frye, two shooters, but they also managed to shed salary for this summer’s free agency period while acquiring a first-round pick in the draft.

While Thomas has struggled so far this season since returning from injury, the Lakers have nothing to lose while giving him a shot over the remainder of the season seeing as he is on an expiring deal, as is Frye.

Clarkson, 25, was a second-round pick by the Lakers back in 2014, while Nance Jr. was selected with the 27th pick in the 2015 draft.
