Well, the Los Angeles Lakers have signed someone.
L.A. announced today that they’ve signed rookies Mortiz Wagner and Malik Newman.
Wagner, a German power forward from the University of Michigan, was selected by the Lakers with the 25th pick in this year’s draft, while Newman, a 6’3″ guard from Kansas, was inked to a two-way contract, meaning he’ll spend time with both the Lakers and the South Bay Lakers.
Newman averaged 14.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting over 41 percent from three-point range last season, while Wagner put up 14.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game, while sooting just under 39 percent from deep.
Both players will appear on the Lakers’ Summer League team. The squad will play their first game on Monday night in Sacramento as part of the California Classic.
