Not good new, Lakers fans.
Pau Gasol is out at least six weeks, according to Ken Berger, and he might even need surgery:
Pau Gasol was worried about a pop he felt in his right foot Tuesday night, and for good reason. The Lakers’ forward is expected to miss at least six weeks with a partial tear of his plantar fascia and may need surgery, a league source told CBSSports.com.
Six weeks time is roughly near the end of March. He could be back in time for the playoffs. However, surgery could mean he misses the rest of the year, and as Berger notes, there’s a chance Gasol could’ve played his last game as a Laker if he’s traded in the off-season.
Gasol will fly back to Los Angeles tomorrow to get the injury examined by team doctor Steve Lombardo and foot specialist Dr. Kenneth Jung. They will then go from there to decide whether Pau should rehab or have surgery.
With Jordan Hill out for the year already, the Lakers will have to hope that Dwight Howard‘s own injury woes begin to fade soon.
