It seems that Pau Gasol took a shot to the groin earlier today. Ouch.
In all seriousness, it appears the Spaniard received a PRP injection in order to aid with the healing of his strained right groin that is expected to sideline him for about a week.
Platelet-rich plasma or PRP has become an extremely popular treatment option for NBA athletes in recent years, with Kobe Bryant leading the way by having doctors inject the shots into his knees.
Dwight Howard also underwent PRP treatment on his injured shoulder last season and played just days later.
It’s thought that Gasol’s groin injury isn’t all that serious and seemingly hasn’t put off the Phoenix Suns from exploring a possible trade for the two-time NBA champion.
Gasol is said to be “comfortable” with a trade to Phoenix, perhaps in part because of their excellent training staff who helped prolong the careers of Steve Nash and Grant Hill.
Anyway, here’s the pic that Pau posted to his Instagram account. Don’t worry, it’s not that gruesome or revealing, thankfully.
