Arenas, who is good friends with new Laker Dwight Howard, is currently a free agent and told some fans today that he could sign with the Lakers:
Earlier today, Los Angeles native Gilbert Arenas was spotted at the 76 Gas Station (15410 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks CA 91403). Agent Zero was kind enough to snap a few photos with the mechanic shop owner and long time basketball fan, who happens to be my friends father.
When asked where his NBA future was headed, Arenas claimed that he is very likely to join either the Lakers or Clippers this upcoming season.
The Lakers are fairly deep at the point guard position, but Arenas could possible be used as a shooting guard if the Lakers did decide to sign him. Right now, they’re relying on Jodie Meeks to back up Kobe Bryant. Andrew Goudelock‘s contract is non-guaranteed so there’s no assurances he’ll even be on the team on opening night.
The Lakers are running out of roster spots though, so signing Arenas doesn’t seem that likely. However, we’ll keep an eye on the situation and see what happens.
