Could Kobe Bryant get his wish? Could the band get back together for one more year? Maybe, according to former L.A. Times writer, Mark Heisler.
The Los Angeles Lakers‘ plans to re-sign Dwight Howard are obviously well known, but Pau Gasol‘s future in L.A. is definitely up in the air. While Gasol had problems with the way he was being used by Mike D’Antoni this season, he said in his exit interview earlier in the week that he wants to return to the Lakers next season.
Whether Pau returns or is traded is of course up to the Lakers, but it seems they may be willing to bring back the Spaniard for one last hurrah:
This just in: Source w/knowledge of #Laker discussions says keeping Pau, bringing this team back isn't merely an option, it's now Plan A.— Mark Heisler (@MarkHeisler) May 5, 2013
Whether the Lakers should keep Gasol or not is a complex issue, and it’s one we’ll discuss in more detail numerous times this off-season, but the fact that Kupchak and Buss seem open to the idea of hanging onto Pau for a little longer is definitely interesting.
