Jordan Hill went from being a player out of the rotation to being injured to being a starter all within a matter of days.
Welcome to the Mike D’Antoni system.
Seeing as the small ball approach wasn’t working, D’Antoni decided to go big and give Hill a chance to play alongside Pau Gasol after the 26-year-old big man registered 9 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks against the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
In Sunday night’s contest against the Orlando Magic, Hill scored a career-high 28 points on 9-for-15 shooting. He also grabbed 13 rebounds and blocked one shot all in 33 minutes of action.
Like most of the players on this Lakers roster, Hill will be a free agent this summer and will almost certainly receive lucrative offers from a number of teams.
Will one of those teams be the Lakers? We’ll just have to wait and see.
