Thursday night marked the final matchup between two of the greatest players to ever step on an NBA basketball court: Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.
The 37-year-old Bryant was a game-time decision due to severe right shoulder soreness that has kept him out of action a number of times this season, though it was no surprise that number 24 suited up in the end considering the fact that his opponent for the evening was LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
While Kobe and LeBron never met in the playoffs, they have forged a strong friendship and the matchups between the two of them have grown increasingly special over the last few years.
And despite his injury woes, Bryant went toe-to-toe with James in front of a national television audience and put on quite a show.
In 32 minutes of action, Bryant scored 26 points on 11-for-16 shooting. He also added 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block.
LeBron finished with 24 points on 9-for-18 shooting, plus 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and a win.
Despite losing 120-108, the Lakers put up a decent fight against the Eastern Conference’s top team, and made this an entertaining game for Kobe and LeBron’s final meeting.
