The fans in Shanghai didn’t get to see Kobe Bryant play in the pre-season game that they attended on Friday, but they got the next best thing: the opportunity to witness Bryant working out on the court as he continues to recover from Achilles surgery in April.
While his teammates were warming up for their game against the Golden State Warriors, Bryant was getting in a good workout. The Black Mamba did some light shooting and even sprinted from one end of the court to the other, something that the crowd loved seeing.
In one video posted by Lakers reporter Mike Trudell, Kobe can be seen shooting mid-range shots. With the crowd fixated on his every move, he drills every one of them:
Then, in a video posted by KB824Legend, Bryant can be seen extending his range a little bit and doing a ball-handling drill:
The thing that really got the Shanghai fans going was seeing Bryant sprint up and down the sidelines.
In a Vine video posted by the Lakers’ official Twitter account, the Black Mamba can be seen flying down the side of the court as the fans chant “Kobe! Kobe! Kobe!”:
Bryant told reporters in China that his Achilles was still tight, but he felt good about the overall progress so far.
The Lakers have not yet released an updated timetable on Kobe’s recovery.
