[pullquote]No Kobe, no Pau, no Nash – no problem.
Xavier Henry played a remarkable game at both ends of the floor to lead the Lakers to a victory in their pre-season opener. In the process, he not only helped remove the memory of last year’s 0-8 pre-season debacle from the minds of Lakers fans everywhere, but he also took a huge first step toward securing himself a roster spot.
With Steve Nash and Pau Gasol watching court-side as healthy scratches, and with Kobe Bryant in Germany getting some planned work done on his right knee, Xavier Henry played with remarkable swagger and aggression en route to a game high 29 points on 9-15 shooting, and he had seven rebounds, two steals and lots of great hustle plays on defense as well. The result was a game-high plus-minus of +21, in just 26 minutes of floor time.[/pullquote]
