It seems that Pau Gasol has been a goner for the last three or four years now, but this could really be it.
Gasol is still suffering from vertigo and he is therefore done playing this season, though the two-time NBA champion was still seated on the bench during the second half of Sunday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies and cheered on his team from the sidelines.
After the game, Gasol stayed behind in order to spend some time with the Laker fans.
“Thank you, Pau!” one fan shouted while the seven-footer signed autographs. Others reached out their hands to touch the Spaniard for maybe the last time.
The fans know that this may be the last they’ve seen of Gasol, and the free-agent-to-be knows it, too.
Though he hasn’t ruled out a return to Los Angeles next season, Gasol will test the waters in free agency this July and has said that having the chance to compete for another championship will be a major factor when making a decision.
