“Words cannot express the love that I have for Orlando” says the Los Angeles Lakers‘ newest addition Dwight Howard according to the Orlando Sentinel advert. It seems that Dwight Howard is very much still in love with Orlando but from what I gather, just not so much in love with the Orlando Magic organization.

The ad goes on to say “Although my career with the Magic has come to a close, my love for the city and the people that make it beautiful will never end.” I get what he is saying and I also get what he is not saying.

Who can blame him though? Dwight Howard has consistently held up his end of the bargain and the Magic has consistently failed to surround him with people who can actually win.

Why would he stay? Only a fool would’ve stayed. Heck, I understand that Dwight Howard’s last year with the Orlando Magic was a rocky stint and much of that was largely Howard’s fault; because, the very thing he seemed to want to avoid another “decision” is slightly what the media and him turned this into.

Perhaps this is it though, the final gesture to the city of Orlando before Dwight Howard embraces another city, the city of angels, Los Angeles! Laker fans can only hope that Dwight just signs his damn extension at the end of his first year with the Lakers. After all, he won’t want to go through another Dwightmare now would he?

All in all, it is looking somewhat promising for Laker fans. Mitch K. makes some very promising moves as Lakers GM. Let’s hope there is a parade next year and no Dwightmare!
