Yes, you read the title correct: Kobe Bryant is still the best player in the NBA.
When healthy, Kobe Bryant is the most dominant player in the NBA. LeBron James has an argument, but at the end of the day, the best of the best is Kobe Bryant for the following reasons.
Since the year 2000, Kobe Bryant has been the best – and still is – because he dominates and can score when he wants on who he wants. When the game is on the line you can always depend on him to come through (you can’t teach clutch) and his work ethic is like no other I have seen before in my life.
Kobe Bryant ruptured his Achilles in April, and now in June he is walking with no crutch, no cast and no boot. On top of all that, he plans to be back opening night.
Let’s not forget Kobe also has the ability to change the game: as a Laker fan I have learned when Kobe Bryant is playing, we are never out of it.
When he ruptured his Achilles, Kobe limped over to the bench, then he limped over to the free throw line and hit two free throws to keep his team in the game.
You cannot look back and look past all these facts.
When the future comes and Kobe Bryant is retired, that moment at the free throw line will be legendary in the NBA. That moment will play back ten years from now and I can imagine it being used in a commercial entitled “Legends Never Die” because the Legend of Kobe Bryant will never die.
