NBA Finals Game 5: Los Angeles Lakers v Orlando Magic

Three former Lakers have reportedly landed NBA gigs within the past few days.

Firstly, Andrew Bynum agreed to a deal for the rest of the season with the Indiana Pacers. Bynum was suspended by the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier in the season and was then traded to the Chicago Bulls who waived him for instant salary cap relief.

A number of teams reportedly had interest in Bynum – including the Miami Heat and New York Knicks – though the two-time NBA champion ended up signing with the Pacers for $1 million.

It’s unclear what kind of role the big man could have in Indiana, though he almost certainly has a chance at winning his third ring in June.┬áThe Pacers are currently leading the league with a record of 36-10 and look destined for a deep run in the postseason.

It’s possible that the two other ex-Lakers who are back in the league could only be making flying visits – that’s unless they impress their new teams, of course.

Shannon Brown signed a 10-day deal with the San Antonio Spurs and will be looking to make an impression in the NBA once again.

After spending his best years in L.A., Brown signed with the Phoenix Suns in 2011, who later traded him to the Washington Wizards – coincidentally, Kendall Marshall was in the same deal and both players were subsequently waived.

Sasha Vujacic is the other former Laker who is rumored to be making an NBA comeback.

The Machine has been working out in L.A. over the past six months or so and will sign a 10-day deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Brad Turner.

All three of these Lakers won two championships in 2009-10 and one of them could possibly be looking at a third ring if they hang around long enough this year.

In related news, Darius Morris could be signing another 10-day deal, except this time it’s not with the Clippers: According to Ronald Tillery, the 2012 second-round pick is on the verge of a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies.

If the deal goes through, the Grizzlies will be the third NBA team Morris has played for this year after he started out the season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
