Kevin Love has been continously linked to the Los Angeles Lakers after the past few years.
First there were the trade rumors – would the Lakers pull off a deal for the L.A. native? – and then came the free agency whispers – was Love planning to opt out of his deal this summer in order to sign with the purple and gold? – though nothing has come to fruition and the All-Star forward is still a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
And it looks like things might stay that way for a while.
Surprisingly, despite the Cavaliers’ struggles this season and the opportunity for a larger deal at the season’s end, Love says he doesn’t intend to opt out of his contract this summer.
“I think that we will figure it out here, so I don’t plan on opting out or any of that,” Love told Cleveland.com. “I plan on being here. As far as leaving my options open, I mean sure, it’s always there. At the end of the day, it’s always good to have something but no, I plan on being here … I’ve said all along that I plan on being a Cavalier long-term.”
Of course, a lot of things can change between now and the summer months, though as of right now it looks like Love is staying put in Ohio for the foreseeable future.
