Kobe Bryant probably didn’t make those comments about Andrew Wiggins

Last week, various NBA websites were running with an apparent Kobe Bryant quote that popped up on Twitter.

According to @2014MrBasket, Bryant said “Cleveland is making the same mistake that Charlotte made with me” by trading Andrew Wiggins for Kevin Love. Bryant was traded by the Charlotte Hornets for Vlade Divac after the 1996 NBA Draft, while Wiggins is expected to be dealt by the Cleveland Cavaliers for Love in the coming days.

However, as noted by Celtics Life, @2014MrBasket later deleted his tweet and hasn’t said anything else on the matter since then. He likely gained a bunch of followers in the process, though.

So, let this be a lesson to all the Twitter users out there: Don’t just believe something because a guy has “I love this game” written in his bio. Wait for the more reputable guys to go ahead and tweet something before you run with it.
