You just knew that Kobe Bryant would take the Ice Bucket Challenge to another level when it was his turn.

After receiving nominations from Derek Fisher, Dwyane Wade and Darren Rovell, Bryant took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge today, though Kobe didn’t just pour a bucket of ice water over his head. Instead, he submerged his whole body in an ice bath, Black Mamba style.

The ice bath, which was set at just over six degrees Celsius (around 43 Fahrenheit), appears to be in Bryant’s home as his daughter, Gianna, recorded the video. This isn’t too surprising seeing as Bryant has continuously praised the use of an ice bath for recovery purposes over the last few years.

The challenge is in aid of the Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) Association, which is a disease that “attacks the spinal cord and can lead to speech difficulties, muscle spasms and even paralysis,” according to the Mirror.

The craze, which was started by Boston College baseball player Pete Frates, a sufferer of ALS, has seen high profile NBA names such as LeBron James and Adam Silver take part in the challenge in recent days.
