Kobe Bryant moves past Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Larry Bird for 34th all-time in assists

During Sunday’s game versus the Miami Heat, Kobe Bryant dished out 8 assists and passed up a legendary Celtic while doing so.

Here’s the stat, thanks to Craig Lawson:

Kobe Bryant moved past Larry Bird and into 34th place in career assists, with 5,698.

With Bryant’s recent passing binge, he’s moved more rapidly than usual up the charts. Kobe passed Michael Jordan a couple of weeks back, and also flew by Laker great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Another former Laker, Nick Van Exel, is currently 79 assists ahead of the Black Mamba at number 33.
