If you’ve followed the Carmelo Anthony to the Lakers rumors over the past few months, you’ll know that the purple and gold apparently aren’t all that interested in signing the 29-year-old free agent this summer.
Lakers president Jeanie Buss is apparently one of many inside the organization who just doesn’t like the idea of bringing in Melo, though her reasoning may be different to that of Mitch Kupchak or Jim Buss.
According to Marc Berman from the New York Post, Jeanie isn’t too “enthralled” with the idea of “stealing” Anthony away from her fiancé Phil Jackson, who now runs the Knicks’ basketball operations.
Berman also notes that the Lakers don’t like the idea of pairing Kobe Bryant with another volume scorer in Anthony.
As mentioned earlier, the Lakers’ apparent disinterest in Melo is nothing new, and the franchise have reportedly set their sights on the summers of 2015 and 2016 when players such as Kevin Love and Kevin Durant could be free agents.
