Things usually get pretty crazy on Draft Day, though, on this occasion, things got weird the night before the 2014 NBA Draft.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, Joel Embiid sent out a tweet that sent Laker Nation into a frenzy.

“I’m a Laker,” Embiid appeared to tweet on his official account.

However, the message was then deleted and the 20-year-old ended up blaming the tweet on one of his friends.

“Friend playing with phone,” the Cameroonian big man said.

For what it’s worth, ESPN Los Angeles’ Dave McMenamin says the Lakers are “not too keen” on taking Embiid if he falls to seven: The Kansas product suffered from back issues during his freshman season and broke his foot just last week, leading some to believe the talented prospect may be in for an injury riddled career.
