With Kobe Bryant set to retire after this season, the Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to reload and bring in a bunch of new faces this summer.

The Lakers could have around $60 million to spend during free agency in July, and Kevin Durant will surely be at the top of their list.

Selling Durant on a young team could prove to be a difficult task. However, if they can persuade a guy like DeMar DeRozan to join the franchise, L.A. might just become a little more attractive to KD.

According to Ryan Wolstat from the Toronto Sun, the Lakers have been interested in DeRozan’s services for quite some time and are expected to pursue the swingman this summer:

Just about every team will have ample cap space, including his hometown Los Angeles Lakers, so DeRozan suddenly will be in a whole new economic stratosphere. Kyle Lowry will be in a similar situation a year later when he also can opt out.

While his hometown Lakers surely will be one of those suitors — they long have had interest in the swingman.

Even if the Lakers can’t convince Durant to join them during the offseason, DeRozan would still be a solid addition to the team. At 26, he’s still young and would be able to grow alongside the Lakers’ recent draft picks.

Plus, the Lakers would still have money to spend even if they sign DeRozan to a max deal, meaning other players such as Hassan Whiteside or Al Horford could also be inked to help round out the roster and add even more fire power to the new look purple and gold.
