First Magic, now Patrick?!

According to Darren Rovell from ESPN, Los Angeles Lakers part-owner, Patrick Soon-Shiong, has joined the bidding to purchase the Los Angeles Clippers.

Soon-Shoing, 61, acquired a 4.5% stake in the Lakers in 2010 after purchasing Magic Johnson’s shares and has since been extremely involved in the organization. Soon-Shoing is often seen in his courtside seat at Staples Center and was even present with Kobe Bryant before he went under the knife last year after tearing his Achilles’ tendon.

Johnson is also said to have interest in buying the Lakers’ crosstown rivals.

Donald Sterling and his wife, Shelly, are being forced to sell the Clippers after the team’s longtime owner was recorded making racist remarks to his alleged girlfriend V. Stiviano.

Soon-Shoing has a estimated net worth of $9.8 billion, according to Forbes, and is known to be the richest man in Los Angeles.
