Lakers Rumors: L.A. to open season at home versus Rockets

The Los Angeles Lakers will officially open their 2014-15 campaign with a much anticipated matchup against the Houston Rockets.

For the first time since he left the purple and gold last summer, Kobe Bryant will face off against Dwight Howard on October 28 on the opening night of the new NBA season, according to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo Sports.

ESPN Los Angeles’ Dave McMenamin was the first to reveal the Lakers’ season-opening opponent.

Bryant missed all four of the Lakers’ meetings with the Rockets last season due to injury. The purple and gold only won the first of four meetings between the two teams thanks to a game-winning three-pointer by Steve Blake.

Jeremy Lin will also bring an interesting aspect to the matchup seeing as he was traded by the Rockets in July in an attempt to dump salary and make a run at Chris Bosh. Houston failed to lure the big man away from Miami and allowed Chandler Parsons to walk during the process.

Lin had a rough time while in Houston and will surely be looking to have a big game against his old team on opening night.

The Lakers will face the Clippers on the second night of the season, according to Janis Carr from the Orange County Register. It was also revealed earlier in the week that the purple and gold would be heading to Chicago on Christmas Day to face Pau Gasol and the Bulls.
