With just 16 games left in the Lakers’ season and March Madness getting underway, the focus around Lakerland is starting to hone in on the 2014 NBA Draft.

Therefore, it’s probably a good time to see who the Lakers would pick if they end up with the first overall selection in June.

It looks as if the Lakers have the 7’0″ center from Cameroon at the top of their list.

It’s not actually all that surprising to hear that the Lakers like Joel Embiid a lot – after all, the purple and gold have a rich history of big men, and Jim Buss pushed hard for the team to select the talented center Andrew Bynum the last time the Lakers were in the lottery back in 2005.

While Jabari Parker is probably the most NBA-ready prospect in the draft, Andrew Wiggins has a higher ceiling than the Duke product, as does Dante Exum who has been linked to the Lakers many times already this year.

Adding even more fuel to the rumors, Exum is reportedly now working out in Los Angeles with Kobe Bryant’s longtime trainer, Tim Grover.

Here’s the Lakers’ current draft board, according to Chad Ford from ESPN:

1. Joel Embiid

2. Andrew Wiggins

3. Dante Exum

4. Jabari Parker

5. Julius Randle
