VIDEO: Magic Johnson takes on the Ice Bucket Challenge, nominates Pat Riley

After being nominated by Dwyane Wade, David Beckham, Isiah Thomas and others, Magic Johnson finally bit the bullet and took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge today.

Johnson wore an L.A. Dodgers t-shirt while taking part in the challenge – Dodgers player Matt Kemp was one of the others who challenged Johnson – and then nominated Showtime coach Pat Riley to pour a bucket of ice water over his perfectly slicked-back hair.

The challenge is in aid of the Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) Association, which is a disease that “attacks the spinal cord and can lead to speech difficulties, muscle spasms and even paralysis,” according to the Mirror.

The craze, which was started by Boston College baseball player Pete Frates, a sufferer of ALS, has seen high profile NBA names such as LeBron James, Adam Silver and even Kobe Bryant take part in the challenge in recent weeks.
