OFFICIAL: Lakers sign seventh overall pick Julius Randle [PHOTO]

Julius Randle has finally signed his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers and Randle decided to hold off on signing his contract until the LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony situations were resolved – doing so allowed the Lakers to keep open $500,000 worth of cap space.

Since James decided to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Anthony opted to stay with the New York Knicks, the Lakers and Randle followed through with their agreement and put pen to paper on Sunday, meaning the seventh overall pick will be available for today’s Summer League game against the New Orleans Hornets.

Based on calculations by Eric Pincus from the L.A. Times, the Lakers now have around $2.5 million left in cap space as the purple and gold can re-sign Jordan Hill using his Bird rights.
