Jabari Parker could have the opportunity to meet basketball legends like this on an almost nightly basis if he’s selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in June.
Just hours after saying that it would be “a blessing” to be drafted by the Lakers this summer, the Duke star posted a photo of himself and purple and gold legend, Jamaal Wilkes.
“Had the opportunity to meet my man ‘Silk’, Jamaal Wilkes,” Parker wrote on his Twitter account. “Watched him growing up, Lakers & Cornbread Earl and Me.”
Parker says he has yet to make a decision on whether to return to college for another season or make the leap to the NBA, though the 19-year-old will have to announce his move in the coming days due to an NCAA deadline.
Wilkes, who won three championships with the purple and gold in the 80s, was entered into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2012 and subsequently had his number 52 jersey retired by the Lakers later that year.
