I think we can dispel all the “bad teammate” talk now.
For years, Kobe Bryant has been described as a hard guy to play with. However, there’s no real evidence to backup this way of thinking.
Aside from Smush Parker, who has almost made a second career from dissing Bryant, both former and current teammates rave about Kobe’s leadership qualities.
Steve Blake is no different, and after he was traded to the Golden State Warriors last week, the point guard had some kind words for the Black Mamba.
“Kobe and I had a great friendship while I was there,” Blake said, according to Marc J. Spears from Yahoo Sports. “He’s one of the best teammates I’ve ever had. I’m definitely going to miss him. I appreciate his support throughout the years. I can’t lie, I’m going to miss him.”
Bryant will miss Blake, too.
The five-time NBA champion voiced his displeasure about Blake being traded on his Twitter account, saying he was “not cool AT ALL” with the move, though ESPN Los Angeles’ Ramona Shelburne later reported that Bryant wasn’t upset with Lakers management over the trade, he simply missed the guy who has been his teammate and friend for the past four years.
So, please, just stop with this “bad teammate” stuff. It’s simply not true.
