The Los Angeles Lakers looked to get their first win of the 2013 Las Vegas Summer League yesterday when they faced the young and talented Portland Trail Blazers. They got off to a fast start once again, except this time, they didn’t slow up.
The purple and gold were led by Lester Hudson‘s 15 points on just 5-for-8 shooting. He also grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 2 assists in only 22 minutes of court time.
Next up was Marcus Landry with 14 points and 5 rebounds. He also had a game-high +26. Lazar Hayward came off the bench and scored 13 points in just under 16 minutes, while also registering two steals. Elias Harris from Gonzaga put up 9 points in just under 21 minutes. He also pulled down 6 rebounds.
Robert Sacre, the only player on the team with a guaranteed future with the Lakers at this time, had 8 points and 8 rebounds in 28 minutes of play. He also had 2 steals and was generally impressive on the defensive end of the floor.
The Lakers would end up winning the game 81-63 behind an impressive all-around effort from a youthful Lakers squad. They exhibited an ability to run and finish in transition, as well as disrupt the opposition on the other end, forcing a total of 19 turnovers from the Blazers.
The Lakers will look to continue their winning ways tonight when they take on the Los Angeles Clippers at 5:00 pm PST.
